Katie Price was detained at Heathrow after failing to show up for court.
After missing her court date, Katie Price, a former model, was taken into custody at Heathrow airport.
Price, 46, of Surrey, is scheduled to appear at the Royal Courts of Justice on Friday. After returning from Turkey, he was placed under detention in jail at a police station in west London.
“A 46-year-old Surrey woman was arrested at Heathrow Airport at 7.45pm on Thursday, August 8th, for failing to appear at court,” a Metropolitan police spokesperson stated. She is scheduled to appear before the Royal Courts of Justice tomorrow, Friday, August 9, but has been remanded in jail at a west London police station.
It comes after Judge Catherine Burton of the Insolvency and Companies Court issued an arrest warrant following the previous I’m a Celebrity… Take Me Out of Here! The competitor did not show up for a hearing on her bankruptcies.
Judge Burton issued the arrest warrant after noting that Price had missed the hearing and had not given a reason for her absence.
“In my opinion, the court must issue a warrant for Ms. Price’s arrest,” she stated. She had no valid reason for missing the hearing today. Irrelevant is the reason behind her absence today.
The judge noted that arrest warrants are not issued arbitrarily, but she also noted that Price had only provided “piecemeal cooperation” and had not supplied the “most basic information” regarding her bankruptcies.
Price was declared bankrupt twice in 2019—once in November and once in March.
Regarding her first bankruptcy, she was mandated to give the trustee for the next three years forty percent of her monthly earnings from the adult entertainment website OnlyFans during a hearing in February.
Then, in March, she was officially declared bankrupt a second time because of an outstanding tax debt over £750,000.
As she gets ready to be arrested upon her return to the UK, Katie Price pleads for “protection” for her crippled son Harvey.
After choosing to travel overseas rather than appear in court for a hearing over her bankruptcy, Katie Price was issued a warrant for her arrest, which has led to her imminent detention.
The 46-year-old glamour model, who was declared bankrupt twice in March, is currently fighting an outstanding tax demand of £760,000.
The mother of five left on vacation to Turkey with her boyfriend, former Married At First Sight star JJ Slater, 31, in spite of warnings about the possible repercussions of missing her court date after missing another one earlier this year to have plastic surgery for a new TV show.
She is now scheduled to return to the UK soon, and she is pleading with the police to “allow some dignity and protection” when handcuffing her at the airport because she is also taking her seriously crippled 22-year-old son, Harvey.
Harvey has a learning deficit, septo-optic dysplasia, autism, blindness, and the rare genetic disease Prader-Willi syndrome.
She posted a statement on Instagram Stories on Thursday, taking to social media to express her gratitude to everyone who has “been showing support and compassion to my situation this week with my pending arrest.”
But as I’m leaving work today, I know that I’m going to be stopped at the airport, which is clearly what the courts believe is required.
“I sincerely hope that they will grant my kid, who is with me, some respect and protection, if only for his benefit, as he will find this to be very upsetting.
“Even though I recognize the gravity and urgency of the situation, I still feel like I’m being treated like a criminal.
“I want to emphasize once more that this has nothing to do with being a criminal or a bad person—despite how difficult things have been, it is related to a very sad financial situation.
“There are millions of people who experience losses and bankruptcy for a variety of reasons; for me, it was PTSD-related mental health problems and severe breakdowns.
“Even though it has been difficult, I will consistently maintain that I am not ashamed or humiliated that what has occurred to me.
People lose their lives every day due to their embarrassment and dread of these circumstances, and the abuse I’ve had in public over this issue is just unacceptable. I won’t be ashamed to keep speaking out against this.
“I have followed the court’s orders to repay debtors, and I still do.
