RB Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions leaves practice due to a leg injury
Every NFL training camp instills a sense of unease about possible injuries, and Detroit Lions supporters are currently not exempt from this dread.
Jahmyr Gibbs, a second-year running back, exited Monday afternoon‘s Lions practice due to a leg injury, the team announced. Before leaving before the team activities, he went through position drills with the wide receivers and running backs. He’s being assessed for a hamstring issue, according to ESPN.
In the 2023 NFL Draft, the Lions selected Gibbs with the No. 12 pick, and he had an immediate impact during his rookie season.
Jahmyr Gibbs has a history of hamstring strains; in fact, he missed time in October of last year due to an issue.
Jahmyr Gibbs had a bit of a slow start to the season, but he settled into a groove toward the end, finishing with 945 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns on the ground. In an effort to improve his pass-catching ability, the adaptable running back worked closely with the receivers during training camp, adding 316 yards and a touchdown through the air.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and Terrion Arnold also depart with injuries.
The Lions’ top need at cornerback was addressed with their first two selections in the 2024 NFL draft. Terrion Arnold of Alabama was selected by the Lions with their first pick, and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was selected with their second pick.
Both players had to leave practice on Monday due to injuries.
The team stated that Rakestraw was being evaluated for an ankle issue while Arnold exited with an upper-body injury. With a slight limp, Rakestraw left at the start of team drills. Arnold exited after a rep against Amon-Ra St. Brown in one-on-one tackling drills.
In the Lions’ preseason encounter against the New York Giants, both players made their on-field debuts; Rakestraw played a little more, but still left the game early, and Arnold just played a few snaps.
Three important Lions get hurt and depart practice on Monday.
Two key rookies for the Detroit Lions left practice on Monday night due to injury.
Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw, rookie cornerbacks, left practice early. Arnold hurt himself during a one-on-one drill with Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Rakestraw seemed to hurt himself during the same drill with Jameson Williams. Jahmyr Gibbs, a second-year running back, also left practice and is currently undergoing evaluation for a leg issue.
The Lions said that Arnold left right away and had an upper-body injury. Rakestraw attempted to shake off his ankle discomfort before moving on to team exercises. At the start of the first team period, he gave Shane Zylstra a reception and hobbled off the field.
Gibbs is reportedly battling with a hamstring injury, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He also suffered a hamstring ailment last season that kept him out of two games. When Gibbs was injured on Monday is unknown.
Terrion Arnold, a rookie cornerback, was wounded during a one-on-one drill against Amon-Ra St. Brown, while Ennis Rakestraw seemed to sustain an injury during the same drill against Jameson Williams. Both players left practice early on Monday night.
Overall, the team’s health ward has had a difficult time.
