Olympics 2024: Men’s soccer fans in Morocco protest a late goal against Argentina as France easily defeats the United States 3-0.

 

First-round match of the 2024 Olympics: France 3-0, USMNT

In the opening match of the group stage, France dominated the United States en way to a 3-0 victory.

Despite having the majority of the possession in the first half, the French were held scoreless; nevertheless, in the second half, the floodgates opened. In the 61st minute, a low effort from Alexandre Lacazette opened the lead. Eight minutes later, Michael Olise added his own goal. In the 85th minute, Loïc Badé scored another goal with a header only to be safe.


For the majority of the ninety minutes, France was the more aggressive team, with more shots overall, more shots on goal, and six more corners than the opposition.

The U23 squads of both nations served as their representatives. For the first time since the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the men from the United States are competing in the Olympics.

raucous gathering at Parc des Princes tonight

The atmosphere inside Parc des Princes was tremendous in the early minutes of this group encounter, despite the fact that Mali and Israel are unlikely medal contenders in men’s soccer.

Large populations of Malian and Jewish people lived in Paris, where loud chants of “Ma-li” and “Is-ra-el” erupted in the opening possessions.

The fans were raucous right from the outset, dressed in Israel’s blue and white and Mali’s vivid green, gold, and red.
