The collector’s cups that accompany the meals include retro designs inspired by famous toys and games from the 1990s and early 2000s, such as Hot Wheels, Shrek, Jurassic Park, and Beanie Babies.

McDonald’s Happy Meals used to be a big deal for a lot of Americans. Yes, there was food, but there were also toys, such cowboy-clad nuggets and Hamburglar.

It became an occasion to score a new gadget because you never knew what you might obtain.

With the official Tuesday introduction of its adult version of the Happy Meal, McDonald’s hopes to capitalize on that enthusiasm. The new menu item, Collector’s Meals, is a combo meal that includes six different cups.

According to firm executive Morgan Flatley, the fast food chain challenges its patrons to chase the “undeniable thrill” of discovering an elusive design or finishing a collection in order to foster fresh memories that are inspired by the designs on the collectible cups.

“We’re giving fans a memory that they can hold in their hand by bringing back some of our most beloved keepsakes with a twist,” Flatley remarked.

The new cups, their designs, and how to obtain them are explained here.
